A couple of summer advisories, new for 2025
For Upcoming European and United Kingdom Explorers -
Girls, if you’re having a bad hair day and you think you’ll probably just sleep on the 10+ hour flight anyway, so you pop on a ball cap. Add some comfy earrings, grab your shades and you’re good to go. Besides, a hat will come in handy for repelling the sun on tours, the beach or hikes through the mountains. But here’s the thing… please remember they will ask you to remove your hat at the ticket counter and perhaps again while going through security. The same is true for guys, too- so think about those moments when you messy head will be exposed in front of many. - also, FYI… (if you want to blend in)… European women seldom wear baseball caps! So frosty looks do come from the locals. I know, I’ve been there. But that’s a story for another time. I wear hats for numerous occasions in numerous locations, so I’m used to it.
Next-Check the new carry on bag sizes allowed. They have changed a little. The current dimensions as of this writing are 22 in. by 14 in by 9 in. And….the weight is between 15-22 lbs. Double check with carriers you’ll use intra-country.
Also applicable in many more countries EES System!! For those of you who are proud of all the stamps in your passports, well sorry, multiple countries are no longer stamping 😥😥 .
Then there‘S ETIS- European Travel Information System- authorization systems, 72 hours prior to departure and approximate $7.00 prior to leaving Europe. Fill out the paperwork.
ETA- as stated in earlier post. Due at least 72 hours prior to arrival in their country and cost $22.00 USD
And lastly (for now) those 3-1-1 Rules- A relaxation on the 3 oz liquid rules in many more airports. Some, but not all airports have lightened up. Double check as to whether you have to adhere to the 3 oz. rule on your personal care items.
Yet to come?….. Look 👀 for day trip taxes to pop up before 2026 👎🏻. There is talk of charging an environmental fee for hauling tourists around towns/cities for the simple pleasure of sight-seeing and heaven forbid, gaining more insight into history of the world. While it helps the economy in small towns, it does add to pollution/air-quality/road deterioration, etc…. Or so they say. And, tipping has gone up to the American Standards for Tour Guides, I look for gratuities to become pre-paid in the near future.
